WOW!! The 2019 Christmas Tree Festival was truly amazing and with 40 wonderful trees adorning the Church it was a beautiful sight.
Everyone worked so hard to create the magical atmosphere we all enjoyed and to see so many people coming together to enjoy the weekend was fantastic. It really was a great community event.
As usual the creativity and innovation people put into decorating their trees this year was fantastic and again made it a difficult choice for people but – the top three favourites were –
O Scrum all ye Faithful ( Newick Rugby Football Club),
Yule Logs (Jonathan Wilkins)
Rootz Grotto ( Rootz).
The Children’s group favourite was Chailey & Newick Colts.
The Christmas Market on Saturday was a great success and plans are already underway for the next one!
The Folk entertained us on Friday evening by providing a lovely musical rendition of carols and other festive favourites. On Sunday, after the church service, children from the Newick School Choir treated the packed church to four beautiful christmas songs.
We are very proud to say that with thanks to the generosity of everyone who came along over the festival weekend, we managed to raise over £1800 for ST Mary’s Church and St Peter & St James Hospice which is fantastic and we also thank the organisations, groups or businesses who took part, because without you, we could not have achieved such a memorable weekend or raised such a great amount.
Last but by no means least a big thank you must go to all our volunteers, helping in so many ways – from erecting boards for the trees to making goodies, serving refreshments, clearing and cleaning the church on the Monday and so much more…… Everyone pulled together and did such a fantastic job and we are so grateful.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and best wishes for 2020.
