This Year’s Service of Lessons and Carols
A traditional service of carols and readings.
The music will be sung and played by our own Choir and recordings from the choir of Chichester Cathedral, and include both well-loved carols and a selection of other pieces in a range of styles.
Please book one seat per person (for both adults and children).
Unfortunately, due to current guidelines we can only seat family/household groups or formal “bubbles” together. Should you require wheelchair access or any other assistance please email us.
Ticket sales close on the Thursday before the service to give us time to allocate seats.
Unfortunately we are unable to serve refreshments after services at the present time.
St Mary’s is operating a COVID secure environment in line with Government and Church of England guidelines:
Face coverings must be worn (unless you are exempt)
Hand sanitiser stands are available for use on entry to the church
Social distancing and the rule of 6 must be observed (seats are reserved in rows with a 2-metre gap between rows)
Track and trace details will be taken
Please do not attend if anyone in your household is showing symptoms of COVID-19: a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste, or if you have been advised to isolate.
There’s something very special about the Advent Sundays leading up to when Jesus was born. Join in with these activities as we prepare for and celebrate Christmas – and as we remember the Comfort and Joy that Jesus brings to us all.

A call to prayer for the nation
On Wednesday 4th November, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York and Bishop of London called the Church of England to prayer for the nation throughout the month of November. We are being encouraged to pray daily for a specific area of national concern, culminating in a collective moment of prayer at 6pm each evening, with cathedrals and churches across the country invited to ring a bell at this time. There is a simple weekly cycle, praying for a specific area each day including the NHS and frontline workers, the bereaved and those struggling with physical and mental ill-health, and for children and young people. A selection of resources including daily prayers, social media content and a prayer booklet have been made available on the Church of England website to guide prayer during this period.

Thank you to all those who have donated this week as you know St Mary’s relies on donations. Especially during the current coronavirus crisis our funding is reduced as public worship is suspended. If you would like to change your giving, please contact Christopher our treasurer by email on firstname.lastname@example.org
You can also make donations online at https://newickchurch.org/donations/
Patsy & the pastoral team at St Mary’s are doing an amazing job of supporting our community and our church and your support makes a huge difference in how we are able to be Christ’s eyes and ears in the parish.
Here is a short video about why our giving is so important.
